Receiving your new fly rod in the mail may feel better than Christmas morning. You can finally get out on the water and test your new outfit. While the assembly process is fairly simple, you’ll need to follow a few steps to ensure your rod stays in top shape.
Care for the Rod
Make sure your ferrules are clean when you assemble the rod. Fine particles can wear the connection and cause it to fail or come loose while fishing.
If you fish in salt water rinse the guides and reel seat off after use. They are made from anodized aluminum or stainless steel but are not completely corrosion proof.
